    The George Peabody Elementary School in the Dallas Independent School District, along with Target Corp., The Heart of America Foundation, the NFL Players Association and hundreds of volunteers, will celebrate the unveiling of the school?s newly renovated library as part of the national Target School Library Makeover program and the NFL Players Association Day of Service. The library makeover is part of Target?s commitment to education and its plans to donate more than $500 million by the end of 2015, with a focus on helping more U.S. children read proficiently.

    To celebrate the library unveiling, former Washington Redskins player Ken Harvey will be on hand to help put the finishing touches on the space and read to children throughout the day. The library makeover will feature 2,000 new books, a complete technology upgrade, new furniture, paint and shelving and more. Each student will also receive seven books to take home as part of the makeover, along with another seven books for each of his or her siblings.

      Ken Harvey
      Ken Harvey was born May 6, 1965 in Austin, Texas. He played linebacker in the NFL for the Washington Redskins and the Phoenix Cardinals over his 11 year NFL career. Harvey was a four time Pro-Bowler from 1994 to 1997, appearing in 164 games and recording 89 sacks. He played college football at California, Berkeley.

      Currently Harvey works as a fitness trainer for space tourists and a sports writer/commentator.

      He currently has the role of Director of Responsibility for the Washington Redskins where he serves as an advisor in the development of responsibility initiatives focused on education and advocacy. Harvey is involved in a variety of charity work with the Redskins and recently made a trip to Haiti to assist in the disaster relief.
