Crossword Puzzle Marriage Proposal (Video)

Apr 18, 2011

Corey Newman had been trying to figure out how to propose to Marlowe Epstein for months. He decided to do it via a crossword puzzle in Sunday's Washington Post Style section.

Join the Alexandria couple for a video discussion about the proposal today at 3 p.m. ET. If you submit a question, there's one question you don't need to ask -- she said "yes."

Did Corey consider what to do if Marlowe couldn't solve the critical parts of the puzzle? (I'm a pretty good puzzler and couldn't do it.)

Hi, What did the people at the office say when you went back to give them their paper or the money for it? Also, Corey, do you like doing crosswords? Who is the best at them?  Thanks, Amy

How did you convince the Post crossword puzzle guru to craft the puzzle? Did you know him? Did you pay him?

From one geeky crossword lover to another, this is a great story. I started reading because the name sounded really familiar to me, and if you'll indulge a bit of a Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon moment, I'm wondering if Marlowe went to summer arts camp at Brevard College in 1992 or 1993? 'Cause that would be wacky.

Obviously, congratulations. Not just on the engagement, but your finely tuned crossword skills. What a good day to not have any mistakes! Hopefully you can celebrate with old friends and a few bottles of wine soon!

Will you frame the crossword?

Thanks for tuning in!
